Pharoahs, Gaelic and Olympics!

A team of archaeologists from the University of Memphis have found an intact tomb in the Valley of the Kings [news.bbc.co.uk]. This is the first since Tutenkhamun was found in 1922. Inside the tomb there were 5 undisturbed mummies and a wooden sarcophagi. This is really interesting. I am looking forward to finding out more about this as it unfolds.
In other news, there is a row over the only Gaelic-only Primary School on the Isle of Skye [news.bbc.co.uk]. I find this debate highly amusing and interesting for two reasons: I am currently doing my teacher training and I am from a place not too far from there. There are so many views for and against the idea that Sleat Primary School becomes a Gaelic-only school. However, I am torn. In some ways I think it would be quite a bad idea, but in other ways I think it would be a good idea. This is another thing I am looking forward to finding out more about as and when it all happens.
And finally, the Winter Olympic Games have opened in Turin [sport.bbc.co.uk]. This is the 20th Winter Olympics and set to be the biggest. And, as with Olympic tradition, the opening ceremony seems to have been quite a spectacle. Let’s see if the Scottish Curling team can hold onto their gold medal!
