Swimming and Discovery

David Walliams, of Little Britain fame, has completed a swim across the English Channel for Sport Relief [news.bbc.co.uk]. The comedian is one of a small number of people to complete such a swim. In fact, less people have done this swim than have climbed Everest! Walliams completed the 24 mile stretch in less than 10 hours. It is thought that he has raised nearly half a million for the charity. Amazing stuff.
In other news, space ship, Discovery, has lifted off from Cape Canaveral [news.bbc.co.uk]. This is even though they found a broken bit of foamy thing only this morning. It is only the second mission to have been launched since the horrific loss of the Columbia 2 years ago. It is fairly corny that they chose Independence Day, July 4th, to start such a mission. It’s almost Hollywood-esque.
