Sock and Sudoku

Posted By on March 10, 2007

Good afternoon :)
Well, I haven’t been doing much recently as work has kinda been taking over. However … I have finished the sock from 2/3 entries ago. I got very annoyed at the end, as I grafted it wrong and only realised *after* I cut the yarn, tidied it up and tried it on. Saying that though, it *was* my very first sock that I have ever, ever, ever knitted. I didn’t want to undo it, purely for the reason that it was my first sock. I want to keep it as it is, as a testament to what I can do if I put my mind to it. And I want to knit more socks now! I have caught the bug, methinks. Watch out Get Knitted [getknitted.com]!
Anyway, here it is in all it’s blaze of glory:

Now that I have finished my first sock, I have a new project. And it is extremely exciting, particulary as the yarn only arrived yesterday (well, by arrived, I mean ‘went to the delivery depot to collect it’). It is the sudoku blanket, as featured in the Simply Knitting [simplyknitting.co.uk] Essential Home supplement. I only have one third of the wool at the moment, as the shop online didn’t have it all in stock. I’m telling you, it has been hard work finding some Sirdar Bonus Chunky wool. It took me hours, searching on the internet last weekend. And then, today, I find some in Atkinson’s in town. I was not amused. I made this face :| Especially as it was cheaper, too :|
Anyway, here is square one. Well, a work in progress square one. I tried to take a close up of the pattern it created, but it didn’t work well. And I tried to take a photo of the whole square on the needles, but that didn’t work well, either. This square is still work in progress, but as I was posting about my sock anyway, I thought I would tag it along too. I am knitting it on 6.5mm needles. And going from the 2.5mm for the sock, to these, was quite amusing!

Right, off to carry on with the square!
