Finished Opal!

I have now finished a wearable pair of socks!
Thank goodness for that. I was starting to get extremely bored knitting with the Opal Rainforest yarn. As pretty as it was, I have been knitting it for quite a while. But they are wearable. They are slightly too small, but I do have large, size 8 feet ![]()
Whilst knitting them, I realised how easy sock knitting actually was. I was amazed. I was expecting this complicated thing, but the pattern provided by opal was extremely easy to follow. Once you have worked out the heel flap, it is a piece of cake. Follow the pattern, and you simply cannot go wrong. And you will know if you do. Just make sure you keep the stitch markers in the right place (unlike me on my first attempt!) and you will be a-ok with it.
I enjoyed it so much, I have already started a second pair of socks. Introducing Thuja [knitty.com]:
These are for David. I am knitting them with the Sirdar Click Chunky yarn. I know it isn’t ideal yarn for it, but David is fussy :p They are really thick and will be so warm when finished. Ideal for these, erm, cold summer nights we will be having soon?! If the pattern continues going so easy, I will get some really nice yarn and do it properly for him. The pattern does use quite a heavy yarn so thought I would substitute … Haha! However, so far, so good though. And I do like the blue.
I have also been planning my next sock project! Recently, I purchased Easy Knitted Socks by Jeanette Trotman [amazon.co.uk] and I really took a fancy to the socks on the front of the book (they look much nicer in the actual book!) so I bought the yarn for it yesterday. It is 4ply Rowan Cashsoft yarn and I needed 4 different colours. I ended up purchasing these:
They are so soft and luxurious. I am looking forward to knitting with them. It will also be my first attempt at something lacy. There isn’t that big a lace pattern in it – just the odd holes (how technical!) but lace all the same! I shall start them once I finish Thuja.
Jeez, I should be doing something productive during the Easter holidays. Never mind!
Oh, and I nearly forgot … in my last entry, I said that I was waiting for sock yarn to arrive from Get Knitted [getknitted.com]. Well, it arrived, and it is gorgeous! It is Celestial Merino Dream and is 100% wool. And just look at the colours.

How beautiful.
Right, off to do something productive knit.
I’ve just bought that book this evening! I saw it in Borders and loved the socks on the cover too. Those are lovely colours of Cashsoft.
