Socktastic!
Posted By Laura on May 23, 2007
Just a quick entry, as I am keen to get on with some knitting and the Champions League Final (Liverpool vs AC Milan – w00t) is on the teevee.
This is a socktastic entry as I (finally!) have a photograph of Thuja [knitty.com] to show you!
These were knit using Colinette’s Cadenza 100% merino wool, colourway Dusk (77) on 4mm needles. It used 2 skeins (100g). It was a lovely, easy knit that have been finished for ages but not got round to photographing them yet. Not that great a photo as I just wanted to show them on the feet. David really likes them, but they are definitely *winter* socks – not great for this time of year …
I have also been making more progress on the Broadripple [knitty.com]. These are really straightforwrad and am really enjoying knitting them. I tried them on, whilst still on the needles earlier on and am really pleased with how the cuff / gusset / heel fits – they are really comfy. and just because of that, here is a photo!
Other things to make it a socktastic entry is the fact that I have purchased sock yarn recently too. I decided to treat myself as I have just secured a job. This pleases me, as does yarn shopping, so thought I would amalgamate the two! I haven’t got any photos at this time, but have purchased more Colinette (Jitterbug), more Lucy Neatby’s Celestial Merino Dream and my first ever skein of Cherry Tree Hill yarn. I can’t wait to knit with them. But first, I must finish broadripple …
I love the Jitterbug – I just got a few skeins last month. Question: did you use two skeins of 100g each totaling 200g or 50g skeins totaling 100g? I only got one 100g skein of each color I chose, and now I’m worried that I won’t have enough. The shop owner insisted that one skein was enough, even for men’s socks. Looking at the yardage, that just can’t be right.
