In my last entry, Jen asked me about the yarn I am using for my lace shawl. The yarn is Bright Dyes Laceweight yarn and it is really quite yummy. However, it is very fiddly and on the aluminium needles, extremely hard to work with. At the end of my first knit row I got in a tangle. This is what it looks like now:
I shall attempt it again soon. In the meantime, I have finished my first Broadripple sock.
I couldn’t photograph it well but when I finish the pair, I shall try and take a photograph outside. I am using the Lucy Neatby Celestial Merino Dream in Fiesta and I do like the yarn. It is much duller than I expected, though. At least, I think that is the reason. I could’ve just had grubby hands! The pattern is really easy and comes up really nicely. It was a good excuse to practice my ssk. I’m not very good at that as it always looks messier than my k2tog. But now I am much better at ssk! Yaaay!
I am currently taking a break from the Broadripples as I wanted to try out some new yarn. I recently purchased some Colinette Jitterbug sock yarn.
This was part of my yaaaay present to me for getting a new job. The colourway is Velvet Damson (118) and it is lush. And it knits up really nice too.
This is just a basic, 64 stitch stockinette stitch sock. Or it will be. And it is so soft, lovely to knit with, really easy to wind up and just all round yummy yarn. I love it
You know, I was looking at the Fiesta socks today and they look duller to me now than they did before. I think I’ll just move on to my jitterbug as well.
What a shame about your shawl.
I struggled like mad with the first few rows of mine. The stitches were twisting around like crazy, and the metal needles were sliding all over the place. It took about half a dozen rows before it settled down enough for me to enjoy knitting it. Don’t leave it too long before you have another go at it!
Nice job!
Your Broadripple looks great in that yarn.
