FO: Broadripple Socks

Pattern: Broadripple by Rob Matyska
Yarn: Lucy Neatby’s Celestial Merino Dream in Fiesta colourway.
Needles: 3.25mm DPNs
These socks took ages. But for the right reasons. The pattern was so deliciously easy to follow and the yarn was yummy to knit with. I took a break after the first sock to knit my dad’s fathers day socks. And I finally got round to starting the second sock last Wednesday. Because the pattern was so easy, and the yarn so yummy, I spent all my free time knitting these. It does pain me to see the photograph as it just doesn’t do them justice. However, as there are so many colours, I found it difficult to capture them properly. I should’ve gone outside but I am lazy!
Pattern and yarn both come highly recommended. I have 2 more skeins of Celestial Merino Dream to knit up. I need to find something devilish for them, I reckon. If I was to do this pattern again, though, I don’t know if I would choose a yarn with so many colours in it – the pattern is getting a bit lost.
I only finished them yesterday and I have been wearing them today. The kids at school were impressed when I told them I knitted them. Bless.
Onwards and upwards now, though. I have just finished a tension swatch for the circular shrug and I am considering starting the horcrux socks tonight. I may not though …
In my previous entry, Webbo asked me about the luscious yarn that I bought for felting purposes. I will tell you all I know! I purchased the yarn at Heath’s Country Store in North Ollerton. The label is very basic and states that it is made by ‘knitting4fun’ company. From what the guy at the shop said, it is local and they get it from a supplier in Nottingham. That is all I know about it, though. There is nothing else on the label bar the fact that it is 100% wool, the weight, what needles to use and how to felt it. It is as basic as they come. So, I don’t know where else you can get it from, or if you just have to get it at that shop. However, if you *do* manage to get to that shop, you will spend a fortune and come out a very, very happy Webbo!
And, just as a side note … 11 days til Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows comes out
Hey, they turned out great – and I think the color looks really vivid. Much better than mine.
I love these! What a great pair of socks.
I read what you wrote about doing the gusset. It’s my least favourite bit as well. I like casting on, picking up stitches, and grafting, but the actual gusset part is not nearly as much fun as the rest of the sock.
that yarn is ::GORGEOUS:: (the socks are awesome too! great work!)
