Yarn Hiatus
Posted By Laura on July 8, 2007
Well, my yarn hiatus starts. Today. I shall not purchase anymore yarn until October. Now, if people decide to buy me yarn, then I will put up with that. But I shall not spend anymore money on yarn unless I really need to (ie – i’m one ball short of a project that needs finishing – which I actually need to do for David’s Irish Hiking Scarf!)
Why the sudden hiatus? Well, I am nearing the end of the school year and as I am only on a supply basis, I have no income for 6 weeks. But that’s ok. I have loads of yarn that has lots of projects attached to it all. And, I visited Heath’s Country Store yesterday. If you recall, we were going to go last week, but decided against it because of the weather. And whilst there, I spent x amount of money. I bought lots of gorgeous yarn, that is also assigned to various projects.
I bought this:
to make the Horcrux Socks. This month is Harry Potter month, so I felt some Harry Potter knitting coming along. I shall start these, hopefully, fairly soon.
I also purchased:
to make the Circular Shrug. I also bought a fantastic pink button to go with it! I’m looking forward to doing this one. Should be quite a fun, quick knit.
I also bought:
and
These are simply beautiful, feltable (is that a word) yarn. It is local to Nottinghamshire and you can felt it at 40 degrees! The green is simply luscious. I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it. So beautiful. I will be making the Fuzzy Feet slippers from Knitty with one of colours and I’m not sure about the other yet. But it was too yummy to let slip.
Recently, John Lewis has a sale, so I bought some of this
to make more Fetchings. I made these before but the aran weight yarn that I used is a bit rough so wanted to make some more. John Lewis had these on sale so thought that it was too good an opportunity to miss! Or so I keep telling myself.
At the moment, I have been speed knitting the second of my Broadripple socks. I put them on hold for a bit but they are back on track. I’m onto the gusset of sock 2 and I am bored. I dislike the gusset part. Tis my least favourite part of the sock knitting process. But I’m about 1/3 through this part so I shall keep going and then have some yummy socks finished. I have been finding it really hard to photograph these socks. It is annoying. I’ll have to get David to take a photo when they are finished.
Well, the cats are in because it is pouring with rain. And I need to go to the shop. So I reckon I’ll knit a bit more instead. Sounds more appealing to me!
Can you tell us some more about the gorgeous green and red yarn? I’d love to know where to get it. Not that I’m supposed to be buying any more – the JL sale got me too, and now the only thing keeping the lid on my stash box is the huge pile of knitting books on top of it
