SP11 Questionaire

For the next 3 or so months, I am taking part in Secret Pal 11. Here is my questionaire.
1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like? I love merino, wool blends and cashmere. They are gorgeous and, quite often, expensive 
I don’t like the feel of some acrylic (some is alright, others just feel horrible) and I detest eyelash yarn. That’s just horrible.
2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in? I have a vase for my long needles, a tea cannister for my double pointed needles and hooks and a pouch for my circular needles. As much as possible, I keep my needles in their original packaging. It makes it easier for identifying which needles are which size and the like.
3. How long have you been knitting & how did you learn? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced? I first learnt the basics many moons ago. However, I have picked it up again since about January. I would say I am intermediate. I give all sorts of things a go, including some lace-y stuff, cables, entrelac. The thing I have avoided thus far is colourwork. Intarsia scares me.
4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list? I have an amazon wish list. I can’t work out how to get the link though. Not much knitting stuff on there, though.
5. What’s your favorite scent? I am a sucker for flowery scents. I love fresh flowers, particularly roses and lilies. Away from fresh flowers, I love lavender.
6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy? Chocolate. Any milk chocolate (without nuts and minus stuff like orange, mint) is good for me.
7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin? I dabble in things. I have a drop spindle to try, I do cross stitch and I enjoy crocheting. I have done glass painting and silk painting in the past too.
8. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD) This is a hard question as I have such a wide variety of musical loves. Current favourites include Carrie Underwood, They Might Be Giants, Take That and Bryan Adams. Fairly diverse, huh? I like listening to most things with a tune. And my laptop plays music!
9. What’s your favorite color(s)? Any colors you just can’t stand? I love purples, red, greens, blues, simple earthy colours. I don’t like bright, in your face colours like luminous pink or yellow. Deep, dark colours are the way forward *nods*
10. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets? I am married with cats. Just had our 2 year anniversary and we have 3 rascals cats we got from a rescue centre.
11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos? I wear hats, scarves and mittens. I do not wear ponchos.
12. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit? I like little knits that don’t take the world to finish, like socks or wrist warmers. I do knit afghans and am in the middle of my first ever jumper!
13. What are you knitting right now? On the needles I currently have some Tidal Waves socks in CTH, a scarf for David and I have just started a jumper by Kate Gilbert.
14. Do you like to receive handmade gifts? Handmade gifts are so much more special than shop bought.
15. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic? I don’t like plastic needles. I have a variety of the rest that all get used.
16. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift? I have a yarn winder that I love. As a make shift swift I use our clothes horse.
17. How old is your oldest UFO? I don’t really have any UFOs. They are all in the process of being finished. If I don’t think it’ll get finished I frog it. I am quite ruthless with my frogging.
18. What is your favorite holiday? I love Christmas, but not the commercial Christmas. To me, it’s a time for family and reflection (not necessarily religious).
19. Is there anything that you collect? I have a rather large stamp collection from many moons ago. Bar that, we collect magnets for our fridge.
20. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have? I don’t have any magazine subs. I was thinking about an IK one, but am not sure yet. There aren’t many books or owt that I want. I don’t follow what books / patterns are out there much. If I fancy getting a new book for ideas then I pop into Waterstones and have a look. I am pretty content at the moment.
21. Are there any new techniques you’d like to learn? I’d like to have a go at colourwork and I want to try more complex lace.
22. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements? I am a sock knitter, yes. I am a UK Size 8.
23. When is your birthday? My birthday is 13th November.
24. Are you on Ravelry? If so, what’s your ID? I heart ravelry. I am lrm743.

They look great. I keep thinking I might try making some, but the fiddly part holds me back.
