FO: Refresher Socks
Posted By Laura on January 20, 2008
Pattern: Basic 64 stitch Sock Construction
Yarn: Trekking XXL in some funky colour
Needles: 2.5mm DPNs
First FO of the year! These were started *months* ago but I never got round to finishing them, what with Christmas and moving house and the like. However, I seemed to get my groove on in the last couple of days and managed to get them done.
The yarn is alright. At the moment, the socks feel rather rough. However, I have been assured from seasoned sock knitters that they will soften with a wash and stuff. I do hope so as, apart from the current roughness, the yarn was quite yummy to knit with and would knit with it again.
I was also rather naughty with these socks. The first sock was knit using metal DPNs – my trusted Opal ones, that I knit my first socks on. However, before casting on my second sock, my Knitpicks Harmony DPN set arrived and I just *had* to start a sock on these. And goodness me, the needles are gorgeous! The colours are ace and the needles are just so slick. I really enjoyed knitting using them.
All in all, a rather favourable knit
As this is my first post of 2008, I shall also wish everyone a happy new year! I hope you have all settled into 2008 quite nicely. I have, as ever, made some new year resolutions and my knitting ones include:
- To knit more from my stash
- To knit at least one pair of socks a month
I just don’t know how people manage to knit a zillion pairs of socks a year. I have enough trouble knitting one a month as stuff comes up and I have no time or energy. My FO list is never that amazing.
I have also cast one a sock for this month. It is rather different to what I normally knit and will show you pictures when it is at a decent photographable stage.
As well as knitting, I have also been doing some sewing. Today I got my machine out and found some fat quarters and started sewing this:
It is coming a long rather nicely
