Work in Progress and Yarnimals

Today was mostly spent waiting. I am having to wait for more yarn to finish off my Babette blankie. I have been waiting patiently all day for the postie and he didn’t turn up. I have some Cascade 220 yarn coming to finish my blankie because I didn’t have enough in the Elann Peruvian Highland wool. And it takes too long to order that yarn from across the Atlantic so have ordered more locally. So currently, my squares are all languishing in a box, awaiting the final 20-odd squares to be made up.
It’s coming along really well. I am really pleased with it and can’t wait to finish it off. Which is why I am getting annoyed at the postie. However, when I receive the yarn, I need to wind it, which is possibly my least favourite knitting job. Ever. I hate it more than seaming! Garrhghhgh! The things we do for our craft.
Because it took so long, I decided to start a new project! Oh yes. I have cast on Elijah from Ysolda. I love her stuff and have been eyeing Elijah for a while.
I haven’t gotten very far with it yet because I got frustrated with the cast on. It asked for the Lighter Circular Cast On as illustrated by Eunny Jang. However, I couldn’t do it. So after a good look on t’internet, I decided to just do a Long Tail Cast On and it worked well enough. And I don’t get frustrated. He is being worked with RYC Cashsoft Baby DK and it’s lovely to knit with. 3mm DPNs means that it is a tight knit too, which is rather good.
I do need to find another name for the little elephant, though. Elijah doesn’t sit well with me. Probably because the worst behaved child in school is called Elijah and a soft, cute little elephant shouldn’t share his name. Oh no. So I need something else.
The astute lookers will also notice a new stitchmarker on my needles. Yesterday in the post I received a really nice card and a set of stitchmarkers from the person I was spoiling in Secret Pal 11.
Sharon, over at the Daily Drivel, makes these gorgeous little fimo creatures and sells them on Etsy. They are absolutely gorgeous and much smaller and more intricate than the photos show. They are really gorgeous. Thank you so much for these – I love them. And I loved spoiling you too ![]()
I hope postie brings my yarn tomorrow. I am itching to get my blankie done
Is it definitely a boy elephant? How about Eleanor the Elephant if it’s a girl? Does it have to be alliterative? Edward the Elephant?
That looks lovely! I really want to try the blanket out! I love the colours too!
Up above the streets and houses, rainbow flying high, everyone can see them shining, up in the sky, paint-the-whole-world-with-a-r-a-i-n-b-o-w!!!! do do do do do do……..
Hey, cute stitchmarkers
You have to visit my blog – I cast on Kiri with the malabrigo today! A bit scarey but going well so far.
