FO: No Purl Monkeys
Posted By Laura on June 15, 2008
Pattern: Monkey Socks by Cookie A, from knitty.com Winter 2006
Yarn: Lucy Neatby Celestial Merino Dream in Fiery Fuschia
Needles: 2.75mm DPNs
I seem to be doing a lot of jumping on the bandwagon at the moment. First, I knit the ever so popular clapotis and now I am jumping on the Monkey bandwagon! Who knows. You may see a pair of Jaywalkers (rav link, sorry) before the year is out!
Anyway, my only modification to this pattern is quite a large one. I made it no purl monkeys. I dislike purling in the round and decided to just knit my purls. And I am really pleased I did. I think they look so much better as no purl socks. The lace pattern was extremely easy to remember and because it was more than 2 rows, it kept my interest.
I love the yarn. I knit my Broadripple socks using Lucy Neatby last year and I loved it. I think I love this colourway more than the bright fiesta. I have another skein in my stash, too. The Aquarius. But after that one, I don’t know if I will be able to knit anymore using this yarn. I can’t seem to find it in the UK anymore ![]()
All in all, a good knit. And I would make monkeys again.
Currently on the needles are Rainy Day Socks (one sock down, one to go) and Percy (main body done, strap and inside pockets left to go). And Summer of Socks starts in less than a week! Yaaay! Haven’t decided what my first pattern will be. I really should. Yay
Ooh nice socks! I started some monkeys this week – and forgged them after one repeat (coz I’m an idiot!). Might try again and do ‘no purl’ as I too, hate purling – in any form haha!
your monkeys are cute!

I love mine and I surely will knit another pair when I run across a yarn that might work with the pattern. and speaking of bandwagons… Jaywalkers are on my list forever now, so you’re not alone in that bandwagon
PS: of course I don’t mind your comment in my blog – it’s making me happy, because now I have found yours
I love the rainy day socks!
