FO: Granite Stitch Scarf
Posted By Laura on July 29, 2009
Pattern: Granite Stitch from Vogue Stitionary v1. Cast on 30 stitches, knit 4 row pattern until the yarn ran out!
Yarn: Manos del Uruguay, Wool Classica, 2 skeins.
Needles: 7mm Knitpicks Harmony
I wanted a quick knit, something for me. So I decided to look through my stitionaries and came across 3 stitches that I liked the look of and David chose me this one. You can’t see the pattern very well – it does look like 3 rows of knit with one row of purl but it was a nice, easy stitch pattern repeat and I think it is less bulky than if I did do it with just k and p.
It is a yummy, warm scarf that I will possibly need in the next couple of days (damn this British weather – it is pouring outside …) It took 2 skeins of Manos and if was doing it differently I would knit from alternate skeins. There is a difference between the 2, but I don’t really care. I love the effect. Others may disagree, I don’t know. Don’t really care, mind :p
I love love love this yarn. I know some people dislike it because of the varied thickness. And I can understand that – at some points I felt like I was knitting with some roving, at other points it felt like I was knitting with 2ply laceweight yarn. Very strange. But I do love it. And it is so very soft.
It took less than 3 days knitting, which was good, and is about 5 feet long, which is also good. At points I wasn’t sure if it was going to be long enough. But it is. I can wrap it round my neck nice and comfy and be snuggly warm. All in all, a yummy knit and I would knit a similar scarf again. I like the idea of taking random stitches and converting them into patterns. Very funky.
I have also finished knitting a Baby Surprise Jacket for baby. I strugged to get some decent photos of it, so a proper post may have to wait for baby to model it! We shall see. In the meantime, here is a photo showing the colours of the yarn and the buttons. Cute.
That’s as close as you are going to get just now, methinks.
In other news, this week I have been making cupcakes! I got it into my head that I wanted some cupcakes, so after a phone call to my mum for a recipe, traipsing round Tesco, Co-Op *and* Morrisons for a piping thing for icing, I was finally ready to make some yummy cakes. And I was really pleased with them.
David wanted blue icing (mmmmmm … think of all those e numbers!) so we did it in blue!
They were extremely tasty. Yummy scrummy. Next I shall make some chocolate ones with chocolate icing and silver balls. Yummy.
Suzy has decided to be cute again.
Still no baby pics………? x
Because there is still no baby :p
