Goodbye Woolly Workshop

Posted By Laura on January 20, 2010

Today I am rather sad. Yesterday I received a parcel from one of my favourite online yarn stores, the woolly workshop. However, due to very sad circumstances, Gill is closing her doors. This makes me sad, but I do wish Gill all the very best in whatever she does.

I have bought many things from Gill in the past, including some beautiful Cherry Tree Hill yarn and the yarn I am knitting my (hibernating) Forest Path Stole. She was really kind and helpful when I was trying to decide what yarn to use for my stole today.

This is some of the contents of my final package:

Can I ask you when you ordered your goods from Woolly Workshop. I have had no communication from Gill, and can’t send an email to her. I placed a rather large order on 26th December and am still waiting.

i ordered mine on 29th of Dec. Are you on ravelry? In the british knitters group there is a huge discussion thread about it all. I think she is so snowed under with emails that her inbox is so full, she is working full time (not WW work) so is working on the overload in the evenings only and the wonderful royal mail is still recovering from the backlog from the snow in some places. I do trust that you will receive your parcel. I’ve ordered many things from her in the past and she has always delivered. This time, due to many extenuating circumstances, I think things are just taking longer than normal :(

I think I will. Its just frustrating not getting any info at all. I am on Ravelry so I will have a look there.
I have had goods from her in the past so I will be patient. Thanks for your reply anyway. It has helped calm me down.

    H there

I too have placed an order for a large amount on 30 December and have been very frustrated that I have not heard anything or a response to my emails. There is just a message on her website saying she is dealing with the backlog. I am glad I am not the only person in this situation however as I was worrying that I would never receive my goodies and not get my money back. I too am on Ravelry so will have a look on there too. I have managed to email Gill in response to the email I received when I ordered but have had no response which your comment explains. The email I have is gill@woollyworkshop.co.uk if that helps. Thanks for the info though – fingers crossed!!!

A huge relief to read about other people’s experiences – I ordered on 3rd Jan but have heard nothing, and was worried because a previous order had come really quickly – but from the above [lucky Janet!] it looks as if orders are taking about a month to process. Will have a look on Ravelry. MA
