FO Ahoy!

Wow, I have been a rather busy bee. I have finished lots of different things, which is good! But it’s rather embarrassing as none of them took very long to finish, I just couldn’t seem to bring myself to doing it for whatever reason – mainly because I dislike seaming and button adding and the like. Argh.

Anyway, the first thing I finished was my Ribbed Baby Jacket by Debbie Bliss (I started all this before the whole KFI scandal came to my attention!).

It was an easy knit, even though I did the ribbing separately to the rest of the jacket. I decided to do 4 rows of seed stitch along the borders to prevent curling, which I think worked. It also added a bit of length to the cardigan. I like cardigans to be quite long – even baby ones. The yarn I used was cygnet grousemoor, which is a wool/acrylic blend. It was quite nice to work with, cheap and cheerful. I would definitely use it again.

After that, I *finally* finished my Uh Ohs by Anna from Mochimochiland.

This was a lovely thing to knit, but not nice on small needles and cotton yarn. I ended up following the pattern, although I toyed with various ideas like provisional cast on to graft the 2 seams. But I didn’t. Mainly because it would’ve been rather awkward. The one thing I did do, mind, was pick up stitches for the arms / ears instead of knitting separate pieces. This worked well. I decided against feet. I liked them without. But yes, the Rowan All Seasons Cotton was rough on my little handies, which is the main reason it took *forever* to knit! Whoops.

And then came the blankie. The dreaded blankie that was the bane of my last post. You will be pleased to hear that I am over that fiasco (although if anyone wants to purchase any baby bamboo from me, let me know!).

It isn’t a great photo and I’ll try and get a better one, but it’s done. It’s got a larger border than I would’ve liked, but it works. Not much I can say about it. It’s really soft albeit not as warm as wool, but I knew that would be the case. Nice little thing, I’d make another.

So yes, these things are all gifts for impending babies. So many babies, nearly not enough time to make everything. Totoro and the jacket are going together to one babba due next week and the blanket and uh ohs are going to another babba due next month.

To reward myself, I also finished off my second granny cushion that I’d been putting off. Now, the main reason for putting this off wasn’t the amount of finishing off required (lots of ends needing sewing in!) but not sure what I wanted to do for the backing. I ended up crocheting a solid granny square and used that, so it was alright. But yes, another cushion!

I do really like it. This was purely a scrappy cover as all of the yarn used was from the stash of leftovers I appear to have accumulated. I must have enough for about a million* more cushions.

*Ok, slight exaggeration!

So yes, productive and finish-off-itis! Next is a little pouch for my phone, Niamhy’s ella funt and maybe, even maybe, getting the forest path stole out of hibernation! :o

wow, well done on finishing all those! I have so many things unfinished – I’m trying to get them done but keep being distracted by new things. Like knitting!
