Tutorial Tuesday : Joining

Posted By on November 9, 2010

I have been making blankies for a while now and it’s always nice to find something that helps with the tedious job of joining squares. Particularly multi-coloured granny squares. This is where Attic 24 comes in. Lucy has a wonderful blog that is filled with beautiful photos and wonderful colour as well as her daily adventures. However, the even more super-dooper thing on the Attic 24 blog is this – joining squares as you go.
This is a fab tutorial that takes away the stress of joining squares with a needle and thread the traditional way at the end of all the crochet.
I have used this method a few times and the results always astound me.

and a blankie in progress (the pattern is the Summer Garden Square which is also a Lucy pattern)

The process is extremely simple but the results look fab. I always feel that something *that* easy can’t look *that* good but it does! It is very similar to the hexagon joining tutorial that Moonstitches uses for her amazing blanket.
The wonderful thing about Lucy’s tutorials is that they are easy to follow, so if you are currently granny-ing I beg you to check out this tutorial. It will help you no end.
Now all I need is a magic tutorial to weave in all the ends – that’s the *other* thing I dislike about knitting / crocheting colourful blankets!
