Christmas Knitting

Posted By on January 5, 2011

Yes, I know that this post is rather late, but I’m only just getting round to doing it. And I couldn’t post it before Christmas as people would see it.

This year I decided to make a lot of my Christmas presents. Don’t know if I’ll ever do it again – it got a tad stressful at points. A couple are still not *quite* finished. Whoops. I’ll get round to them soon.

Anyway, here are some photos and details.

For my husband I have made Error from MochimochiLand. I used Rowan Pure Wool DK which I purchased for the project. It still needs a couple of bits and bobs done – including a little bit of detail and actually attaching the screen and keyboard instead of balancing it procariously.

and as I purchased a Kindle I decided to make a Kindle cover, complete with cows :D

As you can see, it is still unfinished. It’s tricky doing secret stuff for your husband who works from home a lot :/

For my mum I made Fourth Grade, a hat from Twist Collective using some Rowan Tapestry from stash.

I also made her a Naalepuder pin cushion using Patons Mercerized Cotton DK, again from stash.

For my dad I made a phone sock using basic 2×2 ribbing in Colinette Jitterbug leftovers. I don’t have a photo of this. I also made one for my brother. I made him a Knitted Clock by KnitFreedom using leftover Rowan Pure Wool DK from David’s Error.

As you can see, it is unfinished, although it is more finished than it looks in this photo. The clock itself is now made and is just waiting for the mechanism, which was delayed due to the snow :| I do really like it and would quite like to make one for us. Although, I have just spotted some inspiration from MochimochiLand in the shape of this clock … anyway …. !

For my parents I also decided to make an afghan. I used lots of acrylic scraps that I had and put them together to create a single-sized afghan for the sofa and for snuggling with on those cold Highland evenings. It’s not a great photograph and I didn’t have enough time to take another one. I was fed up of it by that point!

For Niamhy I made a Hudson Hat using Fyberspates Scrumptious DK. It’s still rather big for her, but that’s ok.

I also created a Pajama Bear by Crochebury using some Rowan Pure Wool DK that I purchased specially for this pattern. I do love this teddy bear. He is rather smooshy.

I also made a scarf for my brother’s girlfriend. It is a simple My So-Called Scarf by Sheep in the City using 2 skeins of Manos del Uruguay Wool Clasica. It was rather yummy and I nearly didn’t part with it!

Phew! That was the knitting! I also made some hampers for my parents and my in laws with lots of homemade goodies. They included Apple and Walnut Chutney, Caramelised Red Onion Chutney, Pickled Onions, Preserved Pears and Apples, Preserved Peaches in Brandy, Mixed Berry Jam, Apple and Raspberry Jam, Lemon Curd, Mincemeat, Limoncello and Hot Chocolate Cones!

Phew! Twas a busy busy busy 3 months!
